People judge you on the face of your actions or the rumors in town; they mostly don’t know the traumatic, thoughtful, and reflective moments you go through to arrive at your decisions and actions. Thus, their judgments of you are mostly inconclusive; they cannot be final.
I like listening to a Ghanaian Gospel Musician: Leny Akpadi’s song: “Who has the final say, Jehovah has the final say.” I’m always inspired by the song/lyrics because it has emphasized to me that in all things and everything, God Almighty has the final say. Even if you believe it or not, I believe GOD HAS THE FINAL SAY… and that, He is the way, where there seems to be no way. Nevertheless, one other perspective the song has given me about life is that: everything you do, people will talk about you. However, who is the final judge and the final say: it is God Almighty. The one, who searches all hearts, knows our motives behind every decision we make and everything we do.
I remember vividly when I had to take a very critical life decision, moving forward, after a very traumatic life experience. I went through over five years of critical assessment of myself, issues concerning my previous decision which failed; reflected on why it failed, and the lessons I had to take into my new life decision. I fasted and prayed with the support of my friends. Finally, after all these moments, I boldly took the bull by the horn and did what I had to do in the circumstance; which I can say surely: “it is a decision worth taken”.
Not long, somebody, I knew very well met me online and began to question my decision. First, I tried to avoid her, but later, because of the person’s persistence, I had to block her account. Not satisfy, she went to use somebody else’s massager to send me a very judgmental message, which I had to hold myself to answer politely. And my answer was something like this: “Hi as you know all circumstances surrounding my decision and you want to judge me, thank you. I wish such a situation never befall you. I wish you the best. But if you want to talk to me, call me… and I gave out my phone number to her.” However, she never called me to know about my part of the story.
Another person, this one my own relative’ an uncle whom I called upon to help me or let me say “intervene for me” when I was in the situation, but he gave many excuses why he could not be present to help me deal with the case, later sent me a message to condemn me, after I had taken my firm decision. As for him, I saw his comments as self-contradictory and in fact, a storm in a teacup. He even tried to mud my plans through a third party, but God saw me through it all. So I had to ignore him.
Why am I sharing these? Many a time, people become holier than thou to question you; they criticize everything you do with your personal life. Some go to the extent of making themselves judges over your life and decisions. In some cases, they demonize you without knowing all the facts. However, my simple counsel: whatever situation you find yourself evaluate the situation, go to God in prayers, and guide yourself with scriptures and move on. Never focus too much on what people say or would say about you. In fact, take note: in this life, there are over one billion judges if not two billion. Thus, if you think the over one billion judges should judge and give you clean bill of health; exonerate you or acquit and discharge you to heaven, then you will miss it. One thing I know which I am convinced is true is that: God searches all hearts, thoughts, motives, actions, and inactions. He knows our desperate situations, our weaknesses, and our strengths.
In sum, in all things go to God in prayer, if there is a need for mercy, pray for mercy, if there is a need for grace, pray for grace, if there is a need for restoration, pray for restoration, and in all these and more. After you are convinced and have peace with yourself, do what is worth doing and redeem the time. Don’t allow people to be your final judge, their judgments are mostly inconclusive. God Almighty should always have the final say and your final judge. Take counsel when the need arises but never allowed people who judge you based on the face of what they see or rumor mongers, be your final judge. Stays bless and be at peace with yourself, “God has the final say and the final judge.”
