I will give assembly members monthly allowance – Mahama promises

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joh Dramani Mahama, has announced that the next NDC administration will pay a monthly allowance of GHC1000 to all assembly members across the country.

According to Mahama, paying Assembly members’ allowances would cost the country only Gh¢80 million per year, making it a minor concern for the nation.

Mahama made the assurance in Hohoe to cap off a two-day “Building the Ghana We Want Together” tour of the Volta region.

He added that the government’s allocated budget would be reduced to cover the Assembly members’ allowances.

“The office of the President’s budget alone is more than GH2 billion. We are going to reduce the president’s office expenditure to pay the Assembly members.”

Mahama reiterated that the next NDC administration would scrap the teacher licensure examination.
