A section of Ghanaians in the Greater Accra Region has praised the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin for initiating legal action against President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
They revealed that even though the President has powers to reject bills, it must not be when majority of Ghanaians are calling for particular bills to be passed.
Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin has announced that lawmakers will seek legal interpretation regarding President Akufo-Addo’s decision not to sign the Criminal Offenses Bill of 2022, the Witchcraft Bill, and the Armed Forces Bill, all of which were approved by the legislature into law.
This came up when the team at awakenewsroom.com gathered opinions from Ghanaians regarding Speaker’s move to take the President to court and seek legal interpretation of his decision not to sign the bills in question.
The awakenewsroom.com team noticed the disappointment on the faces of Ghanaians over the President’s decision not to sign the bills. They stated that, the President has failed Ghanaians, describing him as a leader lacking compassion. They believed that the President condones acts of criminality, citing videos circulating on social media where old women were lynched over claims of being witches.
Expressing their displeasure, they highlighted the President’s failure to ensure that the abuse and mistreatment of old women in Ghana become a thing of the past.
They passionately appealed to Ghanaians to pray for the President to have compassion, adding that if the President cannot empathize with old women accused of witchcraft, and for which reason they get lynched, no one else is safe in Ghana.
“No wonder we are where we are today; nothing is progressing in this country because we have a leader who lacks sympathy for his people,” they noted.”
