Names of some delegates who are expected to cast their votes in the flagbearership election of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), at the Ho-Kpodzi polling station in the Ho Central Constituency of the Volta Region, could not find their names in the voter’s register.
The affected delegates whose total numbers are not known, reported at the pollen station when voting began exactly 7 am on Saturday but were not allowed to cast their ballots as a result of their names not being on the register.
The Director of Election, Mr. Pascal Agbagba, who spoke to the media, confirmed the unfortunate event but added that there was nothing they could do to have the delegates cast their ballots.
The Ho Central Constituency is said to be comprised of 148 branches, with about 1400 delegates, expected to cast their ballots. However, there were only 146 branch registers available to the electoral officers at the time of opening of polls.
The exercise has however been peaceful and smooth, without any hitches. As at 10:25am, 600 delegates were confirmed to have cast their ballots.
