Two MPs have collaborated with the Africa Youth Development and Training Centre – AYD to train over 150 people in their respective Districts with skills development in order to make them Self-sufficient and not dependent on anyone as well as reduce the high rate of unemployment which has characterised the area.
The beneficiaries which were selected from the Nkwanta South and [ads1]South Tongu Districts of the Region were taken through Bead making, Bead bag, bead sleepers, wallet, Jewellery and liquid soap making for 10 days. The initiative is to help the youth to create their own jobs in this era of unemployment.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Members of Parliament of the two constituencies, Geoffrey Kini and Kwablah Woyome said they will continue supporting the youth within the area especially those who have the interest to become self-employed. They also advised the grandaunts to take a key interest in what they have been taught and put them in to use. According to them, the handcraft can fetch them a lot of income.
The President of the Africa Youth development Training Centre, Christian Ahodie promised to continue putting smiles on the face of the youth across the Nation by taking them through the various skills capacity building. He was hopeful the Africa Youth Development and Training Centre, by the year 2020 will train and equipped more than 5000 across the country.
A working Certificate from Africa Youth Development and Training Centre was presented to the grandaunts during the graduation ceremony. The ceremony was graced by some Chiefs and Government officials.
