The Zongo Chief of Gbawe Gonse a suburb of Accra Sarki Mohammed Ahmed Abass has called on colleague Zongo Chiefs to put measures in place to encourage the growth of education within their communities.
According to him education is one of the major factors that brings rapid transformation to the society hence his call on all Zongo Chiefs to make education in their communities a priority.
Sarki Mohammed Ahmed Abass made the call over the weekend when he outdoor his cabinet members who are to support him to move the Gbawe Gonse community to higher heights.
He stated that his major concern is to ensure that the good people of Gbawe Gonse have good education and good health stressing that without the two no community will progress.
He added that he and his cabinet members are ready to support the people no matter ones tribe or religion.
Outlining some achievements made in the education and Health sectors in Gbawe Gonse, Sarki Abass revealed that he has provided cards for some members of the community especially the needy which he will bear the cost of 25 per cent of hospital bill for those who visit the Gbawe community hospital.
This he said forms part of his initiatives to encourage the people of Gbawe Gonse to visit the hospital regularly any time they notice symptoms of illness adding that most people refuse to visit the hospital due the high cost of bills.
He stated that his engagement with some school teachers at Nuriya English and Arabic school in the Gonse community revealed that the issue of absenteeism is a major challenge facing the school which may have serious implications on the children’s education.
According to him he discovered that most parents find it difficult to provide breakfast for their wards which sometimes results in the collapse of some of the children. The situation has compelled him to come out with an initiative to provide breakfast for the children everyday.
Sarki Mohammed Ahmed Abass further revealed that additional classrooms will be provided for the school to enhance smooth teaching and learning.
