The Electoral Commission (EC) has responded to the petition submitted by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following the ‘Enough is Enough’ demonstration on Tuesday, September 18, 2024.

In recent times, the NDC has been calling for a forensic audit of the voters’ register and the EC’s IT system to determine how irregularities, such as illegal vote transfers in constituencies like Pusiga, Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam, and others, occurred.

The NDC believes this is the only way to ensure a credible voters’ register for the 2024 general elections.

In its response, the EC reiterated its commitment to delivering a credible and robust final voters’ register for the 2024 elections.

“We assure the NDC and all stakeholders of our avowed commitment to delivering a credible and robust Final Register ahead of the December 2024 Elections” the statement said.

The EC acknowledged receipt of the NDC’s petition and indicated that it will provide a formal response in the coming days.

“The Electoral Commission has received the petition submitted by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the end of their demonstration on Tuesday, 17th September, 2024. The Commission will review the petition and provide its response in the coming days,” a portion the statement read.

The EC further indicated that its doors remain open for dialogue, saying “The Commission wishes to assure the General Public that the process of producing the Final Register is in its early stages. In the meantime, our doors remain open. We look forward to engaging the NDC on their concerns.”
