The United Kingdom is on track to host the 2035 FIFA Women’s World Cup, while the USA and Mexico are set to co-host the 2031 edition after emerging as the only valid bidders for the tournaments.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed at the UEFA Congress in Belgrade that only one valid bid was received for each tournament. “The 2031 bid is from the USA and potentially some other CONCACAF nations, while the 2035 bid is from Europe, from the home nations,” Infantino announced.
English FA CEO Mark Bullingham expressed excitement about bringing the Women’s World Cup to the UK for the first time. “We are honoured to be the sole bidder. Hosting the first FIFA World Cup since 1966 with our home nations partners will be very special. The hard work starts now,” he stated.
The final ratification of hosts will take place at next year’s FIFA Congress. England, the defending European champions, recently reached the 2023 Women’s World Cup final, boosting hopes for a successful tournament on home soil in 2035.
