Investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni, has bemoaned the fact that successive Ghanaian governments have failed to adequately train and prepare our athletes for games.

In the just ended Olympics (Tokyo 2020), boxer Samuel Takyi was the only Ghanaian athlete to win a medal.

Manesseh observed that Samuel Takyi’s victory was the first time in almost 50 years since Ghana won an Olympic medal in boxing.

Mr Awuni was happy for Samuel Takyi who was given a car and a cash price of $30,000 by H.E Akufo-Addo.

However, Manasseh was of the view that it would be more satisfying if the state rather gives our talented athletes enough resources to train and prepare for games instead of looking forward to harvesting glory without sowing any seed of investment.

Manasseh wrote; “The harvesting of glory without sowing any seed of investment is like starving your child of learning materials but throwing a big party to celebrate the child’s modest academic success”.
