The removal of the two Deputy ECs: Korsi Senyo, the Petitioner writes

I am very surprised that as the petitioner in the case for the removal of the two Deputy Electoral Commissioners, Mr. Amadu Sulley, and Ms Georgina Opoku Amakwah, neither I nor my lawyer has received a copy of the report of the Committee constituted by the Chief Justice to investigate the matter I brought against the two public officials in my petition to the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo.

[ads1]I have not even been written to on the outcome of the case. I only got a copy of the government’s press statement issued by the Information Minister, Dr. Mustapha Hamid on social media.

After over six months of the trial, hiring a lawyer on pro bono, committing personal resources and time, I thought it would have been prudent and proper that I’m written to about the outcome of the case after filling our final addresses on June 20, 2018.

I can remember when the Chief Justice, H.L Sophia Akufo, found a prima facie case in my petition, Daily Guide newspaper reported it days before I was served a letter about the decision by the Chief Justice.

Even though the case was being heard in camera (not open for public consumption), Daily Guide reported on the proceedings as if they were present throughout the proceedings. The Committee did not find these acts by Daily Guide contemptuous.

I, then formally wrote to the committee over bias reportage and contemptuous manner in which Daily Guide was meddling in the case. The committee, however, never even wrote to acknowledge receipt of my petition. When I, through my lawyer raised a verbal concern over not hearing any response from the Committee on my protest letter against Daily Guide, I was told that they [Daily Guide] had been given another chance to see if they will make any further publication on the matter before they could call them to order.

Daily Guide, on the matter, to me, acted like the official PR for the Chief Justice and the Investigative Committee.

In all, however, I am very happy the Committee found substance in my case and my efforts yielded a positive result but it has not ended there. The Electoral Commission needs a total overhaul.  An institution of that caliber which has the ability to “make and unmake” does things in their own way over the years. The officials there have no respect for any public sector rules. They formulate their own rule.

Infact, Dr. Kwodjo Afari Gyan supervised total rot at the EC.

I shall return soon…
