Men’s Health Foundation Ghana is a social enterprise established to champion the course of Prostate Cancer in Ghana and abroad. The foundation has been nominated for the first edition of the FN Business Awards 2017.
Men’s Health foundation Ghana is the national peak body of prostate cancer in Ghana.
[ads1]The charity is the only men’s health organization in Ghana creating awareness, offering free prostate health screening, and providing treatment information.
The charity was set up with a simple mission: to stop prostate cancer before it’s strikes. The charity has screened over 100,000 men since 2014 it was founded.
The charity has pushed for the declaration of father’s day in Ghana as national prostate cancer awareness day under the John Dramani Mahama government. This made the former president to speak on national GBC sunrise fm in the eastern region prior to the 2012 elections on prostate cancer making the president the first president to speak on PROSTATE CANCER. The same policy made the flag bearer of the CPP. Ivor Greenstreet to also incorporate in his manifesto to recognize father’s day of elected as president.
Today prostate cancer has a voice and Men’s health foundation has become the leading men’s charity in the country. The charity also played an important role to establish the Nigeria version of Optimum Men’s health foundation. The charity becomes the first in Ghana to establish free prostate screening in Ghana at Dodowa.
About Founder
Dr. Raphael Nyarkotey Obu, founder of Men’s Health Foundation Ghana, is a research Professor of Prostate cancer and Holistic Medicine at Da Vinci college of Holistic medicine. He was appointed at age 31yrs. He has done extensive research into prostate cancer and the black race bringing the awareness of the disease to both national and political leadership. He is the national president of the Alternative Medical Association of Ghana (AMAG) and Men’s Health foundation Ghana, the country national peak body of prostate cancer. He is the Medical director of RNG Prostate Research Lab and Holistic Hospital at Tema com 18. He is also the principal research scientist at RNG Medicine Research Lab.
He was conferred the Nigeria legend award in Nigeria for his contributions towards prostate cancer in Nigeria. He recently won the Young Health Research Personality award organized by Africa Health Legendary Awards. He was named in the Ghana 40under40 achievers 2017. He is prolific writer with over two million readers of his according to ModernGhana.com assessment. He is a columnist for the Chronicle Newspaper and Author of three books. One used by Oheneba Ntim Barima of Oman FM to educate the public on prostate cancer. He has made several policies in prostate cancer in Ghana.
His research brought the hibiscus tea into the national limelight as the best tea for men’s prostate health and also vitamin D deficiency as the major cause of prostate cancer in black men
He has published close to 400 articles and papers on prostate health.
