The Minister for Land and Natural Resources, Hon. John Peter Amewu; Volta Regional Minister Dr. Archibald Letsa and other dignitaries are set to participate in the much awaited Leklebi Agbesia Mega Yam Festival scheduled for September 5, 2017 at Leklebi Agbesia in the Afadzato South District in the Volta Region.
The festival which is on the theme “Together We Stand for Development” seeks to bring together citizens of the Agbesia both home and abroad as well as tourism lovers to raise support and awareness to help promote the tourism in the area and the district as a whole.
[ads1]Speaking to Awake News’ Efo Korsi Senyo, a leading member of the organizing team, Mr. Joseph Gapko said, the gathering is also an opportunity for Ghanaians and foreigners to visit the district and get first hand information on possibilities of investing in tourism sector in the district.
Mr. Gakpo released that number of dignitaries have confirmed their participation and notable among them are Mr. Laywer Paul Asimenu who chairs the event with Hon Dr. Ziblim Barri Iddi, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture & Creative Art as Special Guest of Honour.
Other Dignitaries include Hon. John Peter Amewu -Minister for Environment, Land and Natural Resources; Hon. Dr. Archibald Letsa, Volta Regional Minister; Hon. Lawyer, Wisdom Semanu Seneadza DCE Afadzato South; Hon. Angela Oforiwa Alorwu-Tay, MP Afadzato South constituency; Hon. Joseph Z. Amenorwode, former MP for Afadzato South.
He seized the opportunity to extend general invitation to the public.

The 2017 festiaval according to the organizers is being sponsored by Leklebi Agbesia Progressive Youth Association (LAPYA), Joy Industries (producers of Joy Daddy, Joy Twede3 Bitters, Joy Ointment) with Lukusi Radio 96.1 Mhz as the media partner.
About the areas:
Agbesia is one of the six communities makes the Leklebi Traditional Area with Duga being the area capital which host Leklebi Secondary School. The other communities include Fiape, Dafor, Kame and Kudzra.
Agbesi his one of the finest but yet to be developed waterfalls – Aflabo Fall. Other tourist attraction sites in the District include Mt. Afadzato, Tafe Atome Monkey Sanctuary, Tsatsadu waterfall.
The predominant commercial activities in the area is farming (cocao, coffee, palm, yam, coco yaw, avocado pie etc). Leklebi is also believed to have a large about of iron as farmers pick crystals of the irons on their farms.

- Awareness creation on float around adjoining communities, borborbor & street jams.
