On January 7, 2019, the NPP government led by Nana Akufo-Addo will be exactly two years in office. It would be halfway through the four-year mandate.

President Akufo Addo in opposition promised Ghanaians he will change Ghana in 18 months if Ghanaians voted for him. As expected, it is time for stocktaking and assessment of his performance vis-a-vis the promise he made. How the President and his government have fared since its inauguration on January 7, 2017 is the issue on board. The President and his party made a number of promises. It is based on these promises that Ghanaians want to appraise the achievements or failure of the administration. Many Ghanaians were of the hope that the nation’s [ads1]governance architecture was going to change because of candidate Akufo Addo’s body language and the sweet promises.

This is the state of Ghana after 18 months in office.

During the 2016 campaign, candidate Akufo Addo and his party gave Ghanaians the impression that they knew what the problems were with the country and had solutions to all the problems. They raised our expectations with their fantastic promises including the one Village one dam, one district one factory, one constituency $1 million.

Eighteen months and we are yet to see the dams, the factories. What the President has successfully achieved are

– Appointing his daughter into his government

-54 family members into his government

-Given us another holiday to celebrate his father and grandfather

-Appointed 1,650 staffers
