Cyber security expert, Yayra Koku has taken to his Facebook page to prove that the claims by the government of Ghana that the continuous astronomical rise in fuel prices in Ghana is attributed the Russia-Ukraine is a total falsehood.
Providing the global crude oil price data since the war started, Yayra Koku said in February 2022 when the war started “The world crude price was $97.13 per barrel, and we [Ghana] were buying a litre of diesel in Ghana for 8.11 CEDIS.”
However, as of today, the global crude oil price is $98.57 and Ghana is buying diesel at GHC23.49

They have lied to you that Fuel prices are rising in Ghana because of Russia’s Ukraine war.
Now check the statistics below. The Russia and Ukraine war started in February 2022. The world crude price was $97.13 per barrel, and we were buying a litre of diesel in Ghana for 8.11 CEDIS.
March was $117.25 per barrel
April was $104.58 per barrel
May was $113.34 per barrel
June was $122.71 per barrel
July was $111.93 per barrel
August was $100.45 per barrel
September was $89.76 per barrel
October was $92.81 per barrel and
Today 7th November, 98.57 per barrel
So if a litre of diesel in February 2022 was 8.11 CEDIS when the international market was $97.13 per barrel, why are we buying a litre of diesel in November 2022 at 23.49 CEDIS for a litre when the international price is 98.57?
We are in this MESS because of our weak economic fundamentals that have destabilised and weakened our cedi. The dollar is trading at 15.65 CEDIS today compared to 6.33 CEDIS in February 2022.
Dont let anyone lie to you. Ghana is SINKING. And please let no one come and post BOG interbank rates here because that ONLY exists on an A4 paper.
