Ghanaians protest against Akufo Addo at UN Assembly for arrest of ‘stop Galamsey now’ demonstrators

Ghanaians in New York has protested against President Nana Akufo-Addo for the arrest of ‘Stop Galamsey Now’ protesters whiles he was addressing the United Nations General Assembly.

The protesters in New York, USA believe the Nana Addo led government has engaged in fundamental human rights abuse.

According to them they are against the recent arrests of the Democracy Hub demonstrators and seeking the immediate release of all the people arrested on September 23, during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest against illegal mining (galamsey).

They have placards with inscriptions such as “the judiciary must be fair and independent”, “speak up to save Ghana”, “stop Galamsey” you are a failure, among others.

One could hear some of the protesters chanting, “Stop illegal mining in Ghana, release the protesters now”.
