Investigative Journalist and Editor of The Fourth Estate, Manasseh Azure Awuni has explain the reason behind the decision of former IGP, David Asante Apeatu to discontinue his defamatory case against Net 2 Journalist.

The former IGP has sued Justice Kwaku Anan but at the last seating date, the presiding judge is alleged to have told the lawyer for the former IGP that he is a young lawyer and does not know the kind of people he is dealing with.

In a Facebook post, Manasseh Azure Awuni said his sources close Mr. Apeatu said “According to my sources, the former IGP believes he has a strong case, but he has lost faith in the judiciary and does not want to waste his time on the matter.”

The is said was due to the judge’s pronouncements in the open court.

“Former IGP, David Asante Apeatu, has discontinued the defamation case. My sources close to him say Mr. Apeatu’s decision is due to some pronouncements made by the judge in open court the last time the case was called. According to my sources, the former IGP believes he has a strong case, but he has lost faith in the judiciary and does not want to waste his time on the matter.

We are not in normal times in Ghana. The Chief Justice should be worried about this development.”
