The family of the late Akua Donkor has officially announced the date for her final funeral rites, marking the end of a chapter in Ghana’s political history.

Akua Donkor, the flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party, passed away on October 28, 2024, just weeks before the country’s 2024 elections.

Her sudden death left many shocked, as she was a prominent figure who made her mark in the political arena despite lacking formal education.

Akua Donkor’s political journey was one of resilience and determination. She rose from humble beginnings to become a voice for many, especially women in Ghana’s political landscape. Her candidacy in the 2024 elections, despite her death, was a testament to her influence.

Although she could not be physically present to campaign, her name still appeared on the ballot, and votes for her were unfortunately counted as spoiled ballots.

According to the family’s announcement, Akua Donkor will be laid to rest on March 29, 2025, at Ejuratia in the Ashanti Region, where her roots lie.

The funeral promises to be a reflection of her unique impact on the political space, with many expected to honor her legacy. Akua Donkor’s passing marks the end of an era, but her contributions will not be forgotten by those who admired her courage and spirit in Ghana’s political journey.
