Information available to Awake News indicates that there is uneasy calm among the security services as service officers who retired last year October are yet to receive their retirement packages from the Government of Ghana.

According to Awake News sources within the security services, the ex-service officers who retired last year were expected to receive their retirement packages by the end of last year or latest by March 2022. However as of July 2022 no sign or comminution from the government of the reason for the undue delay.

“At least their retirement package no matter how the delays, should have hit their various accounts by March 2022. But as we speak, even no sign of them receiving their payments” – A serving officer told Awake News on condition of anonymity

“The most worrying part of this whole issue is no one is telling them anything and you know they can’t even talk” – he added

It is not yet clear the reason for the delay but the country is currently experiencing severe hardship across all sectors with the majority of Ghanaians being at the receiving end leading to a series of labour unrest at the back of the astronomical rise in the prices of comodities making the country to record its inflation rate as high as 29.8%.
