“Dirty” plot against new Juaben North MP backfires

Nana Adjei Boateng

The move to malign the member of Parliament for the New Juaben North, Nana Adjei Boateng and executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party with claims that they had neglected the youth in the area, and were only engaged in giving jobs to cronies and girl-friends has hit a snag, as it has emerged that the known faces behind the scheme had their personal agenda against the MP and his constituency executives.

When news broke that some youth in the area, had waged ‘war’ against their MP, for neglecting them in terms of jobs and development in the area, your authoritative Free Press, as usual decided to delve into the matter to ascertain the reality of the issue.
The youth, among other things had earlier accused the MP, who is a Deputy Local Government Minister, and some executives of the New Patriotic Party for failing to lobby employment opportunities for them despite countless appeals.
Secretary to the aggrieved youth, one Benard Boateng had told journalists that “the boys are suffering at the grassroot. Since 2016 up to date we haven’t heard a word from the MP, up to date we have not seen a single project by the MP so we the Youth in Juaben North from Asikesu, Mpaem, Asokore , Oyoko, are working to drop him down massively so we have warned him not to come again in 2020″.
However, when Free Press scouts visited the constituency, the reality of the issue was rather far from the claims of the aggrieved youth.

For instance, in terms of jobs, most of the youth had benefited from employment opportunity slots from NABCO, Cocobod, and other areas.

“Recently the constituency helped over 350 graduates secure jobs with NABCO and had even received their salaries”, Wiafe Debrah, deputy youth organizer of the NPP in the constituency had noted.

“When the opportunity to apply for NABCO came, the Executives used all the information centres in all the towns that falls within the constituency to make that announcement to the Youth to submit their printouts. The towns are Akwadum, Effiduase, Asokore, Oyoko, Jumapo, Suhyen, Kofikrom, Asikasu and Mpaem… the youth are working with NABCO today. We still have slots available
and so why did those so-called angry youth made of just 4-6 people did not apply?’’, he asked.

‘’Even one of the four boys who fronted the foiled demonstration known as ‘Asticabi’ is on NABCO and is receiving salary and so it tells you they have no case. The other two, Vincent Osei Boateng (Osei B) and Bernard Boateng (CK) are also claiming of being graduates, and so I don’t know what is preventing them from applying for NABCO even though it is well established that CK is a teacher teaching in the Fanteakwa district’’, he added.

More so, on infrastructure, Free Press during a 4-day tour in the constituency, witnessed the construction of a multi-purposed youth resource centre at Effiduase, a multi-purposed community centre and a clinic at Akwadum, a modern toilet facility at the Ghana Senior High School (Ghanass), a rehabilitated primary school at Asikesu, and a modern toilet facility at Jumapo.

Others also included the re-roofed Methodist school at Oyoko, construction of a classroom block at Mpaem, bus services to aid Senior High School students in the municipality at a rate of ghc1, and a newly constructed classroom block at the Effiduase Presby ‘B’ among many others.
