Cristiano Ronaldo has set sights on a new target after he was presented with the Guinness World Record Certificate for scoring the highest number of goals in men’s international football.
On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, Cristiano Ronaldo broke Ali Daei’s record of 109 international goals after scoring twice in Portugal’s 2-1 comeback victory over Ireland in the 2022 WC Qualifiers. Ronaldo’s brace took him to 111 international goals for Portugal.
As a result, he was presented with a certificate by the Guinness Book of Records for being the highest goal scorer in international men’s football on Friday, September 3, 2021.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s taste for hardwork was evident in his Facebook message after he received the certificate as he immediately set sights on…..guess what?…..scoring more goals.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s arch-rival, Lionel Messi, is the closest active footballer in terms of international goals scored and it’s understandable why the Portuguese star has immediately set his sights on widening the gap between them.
Lionel Messi has scored 76 goals for Argentina (at the time of writing) and has a bit of an edge since he’s two years younger than Cristiano Ronaldo.
