Bugri Naabu descends on NPP MPs

Bugri Naabu, Northern Regional NPP Chairman

The outspoken Northern Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Daniel Bugri Naabu has descended heavily this time around on some NPP Members of Parliament.

He said some of the MPs are creating problems in relation to the appointment of the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chiefs Executives in the Northern Region.

[ads1]According to Chairman Bugri Naabu, these MPs were appointed by President Akuffo-Addo and they were accepted by the party members but however, these MPs are undermining the appointments of the president into the various MMDCEs.

“As I am talking to you now, in the Gambaga/Nalerigu constituency, if there is an election today, we can’t win it and the Gushegu constituency, the same and other key places I won’t mention now. Please Chairman, we shouldn’t think that we have won elections and for that matter, that is all, it cannot be all. So I just said a few things, put it in your head, get back to Accra and investigate and find out” he stressed.

The NPP Chairman said these during the party’s annual delegates’ conference in Tamale at the Radach Memorial and Conference Centre over the weekend.

Mr. Bugri Naabu also seized the opportunity to commend the Northern Region NPP executives for their ability to dismantle the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) despite people touting the three regions of the north as NDC’s power house.

He stated that if the current crop of executives are given the mandate to continue their hard work, the NDC will not be a force to reckon with in the region.

The NPP Chairman ‘bulldozer’ however assured the national executives present at the conference that, there was peaceful coexistence among the party hierarchy in the region, though media report lately that, there is some impasse amongst them.

Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Chief Scribe, Sule Salifu on his part said some political office holders are not cooperating with the party structures at the constituency and regional levels and that in his view will not auger well for them as a party.

He stated government appointees must bear in mind that the party structures are supreme and therefore should respect the constituency and regional executives and cooperate fully with them.

The NPP Secretary disclosed henceforth, the regional secretariat has the responsibility to send confidential report about all government appointees in the region to the office of the National General Secretary to ensure that appropriate sanctions are meted out to such appointees. He also observed the lack of consultations among the leadership of the party in the region.

According to Sule Salifu, certain appointments have been made from the constituency to the regional level without consultation from the top. This he said this will never help the development of the party.

He however commended President Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo for the appointments does so far but also requested for more in the Northern Region.

Mr. Sule also seized the opportunity to lobby for the various constituency women organizers of the party in the region for his second term bid.

He indicated that since the NPP won the 2016 general election, absolutely nothing has been given to the women groups in the area and as a result, the Ghana National School Feeding Program ought to be given to them to consolidate their efforts prior to the polls.

The Acting National Chairman, Mr. Freddy Blay who was at the conference cautioned the party against disunity.

“we not to fight one another, if we do so, we are saying prayers to the devil, because this region offers the best opportunities for the people of this country”. – Mr. Blay said

He encouraged the party members to make the region the greenery of Ghana.

The New Patriotic Party has conducted all ten regional conferences and have resolved to hold their national conference in the Central Region, Cape Coast in the last week of August, 2017.
