According to him in a Facebook post sighted by Awake News, “The Ministry of Roads and Highways is ensuring that work begins on [ads1]completion of these bridges in the course of the coming week, and has put together a comprehensive plan to address systematically all these infrastructural problems, which are legacies of a past decade of neglect”

The President said this in a condolence message to the families of the female student that killed knocked down to death yesterday by a taxi driver.

“I express my deep condolences to the family of the student who lost her life yesterday at Adenta, after being knocked down by a taxi, as she attempted crossing the road on her way from school.” – The President said in his post

“Our nation has suffered an unnecessary loss. The scenes that played out in its aftermath are regrettable, and should not happen again” – he added.

He used the opportunity to urge the citizens to respect traffic regulations to safeguard and preserve their lives.

“I would urge drivers and pedestrians to obey and respect the laws on our roads. All of us, Government and the citizenry, have a collective responsibility to safeguard and preserve life.”

Yesterday’s accident becomes the 195th recorded on the Madina-Adentan Highway in 2018 alone.

The latest fatality is the first-year female student of the West Africa Senior High School (WASS) who was crossing the road on her way from school.

The incident fueled the already anger in the resident over the uncompleted footbridges on the highway forcing them to close the road and burning tyres in a very chaotic scene.  I took the timely invention of the police to bring the situation under control for close to 3hurs.

This is the president’s post:
