An Aspiring National Zongo Caucus Coordinator for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the former Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Hon. Ismai’la Bawa has said the NDC Zongo Caucus needs an experienced person to help it win back the Zongo votes for the party in the 2020 elections.

The former lawmaker said this in an exclusive interview with this reporter in Accra and added that he has the experience to lead the NDC in the Zongos due to his popularity as well as an opinion leader within the communities.

According to him, the leadership of NDC Zongo Caucus is not about who is young or who has money, rather it is experience, time, loyal and well connected among the Zongo Chiefs and the people at large.

Explaining further, the aspiring Zongo Caucus Coordinator, further stated that it is prudent for the leadership of the NDC Zongo Caucus to be handed to someone who has much time, experience, admirable as well as well respected within the communities.

He revealed that the party lost its support base in the last elections due to neglecting of some key responsibilities by the executives and failure to meet the basic needs of the people living in the Zongos. This and many others he said were part of the poor show for the party in the the 2016 elections.

Hon. Alhaji Isma’la Bawa stated that he will ensure that the major needs of the people within the Zongos are taking care of adding that education is one of his major priorities and will ensure that the Zongos will have educational infrastructure among other developmental projects.

He said he will empower the women to expand their businesses and provide the youth with skills training and scholarship adding the Zongos of today is not like Zongos in some years ago hence his quest to invest in the education of the people within the Zongos.
