The President of the Avenor Traditional Council in the Akatsi South District of the Volta Region, Torgbui Dorglo Anumah VI, has challenged the youths of his territories to lead the lines for the development of the Avenor Communities.
[ads1]Addressing a gathering at the grand launch of the Avenor Tutudoza at the British Council in Accra yesterday, Torgbui said, “We want to develop Avenor, but the chiefs cannot do it alone. In this technological world of ours, I challenge our young men and women to lead the front in our development.”
“We are ready to work with you (the youths), for the realization of our development goals. That notwithstanding, we want committed, loyal and disciplined youths to work with. I must say that the Traditional Council and myself are ready to work with you in order to match forward”.
“Take the lead and the Chiefs and elders of our land will follow you with the best counsel and advice as to what to do”. he added.
Torgbui also emphasized on the need for peace and unity to pave the way for the development of the Avenor land.
“The Traditional Council have set up a committee to work on issues of reconciliation and to help foster peace and unity among us. Torgbui Sakpaku IX, is the chairman of that Committee.”
The Avenor Tutudoza is an annual festival celebrated by the Avenor ethnic group of the Ewe land, most of whom reside in Akatsi, Avenorfeme, Gefia, Wlitey, and other towns in the South of the Volta region.
This year’s event which comes off in November is on the theme; “Leveraging our heritage to promote development, peace and unity”.
The activities start from Monday 19th – Sunday 25th November 2018.
