Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has called out Members of Parliament on the Minority side, urging them to take responsibility for their role in the current economic crisis in Ghana.

He pointed out that their support for former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta contributed significantly to the country’s financial woes.

Iddrisu argued that the blame for the state of the economy shouldn’t fall solely on Ofori-Atta. He reminded Parliament of their earlier support for the Fiscal Responsibility Act, which was meant to ensure fiscal prudence, but was suspended before leaving power.

He criticized the Minority for not holding Ofori-Atta accountable when concerns were raised about overborrowing and mismanagement, and instead, they allowed him to continue unchecked.

Iddrisu emphasized the need for Parliament to set a borrowing ceiling for the country, urging them to act in the best interests of the people of Ghana and avoid repeating past mistakes.
