The Ashanti Regional Deputy Secretary for the National Democratic Congress(NDC), Hon. Mathew Kojo Njourkone has said that Chairman Benard Antwi Bosiako, the Ashanti regional party Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party has no right to stop the former president of the Republic, H. E John Mahama from entering any school in the [ads1]Ashanti Region.
According to him, they (NDC) have taken very serious note of the threat by Chairman Wontumi, affectionately called and called on the security to intensify measures necessary to guarantee the free and legitimate movement of every person in the Country, including the former president of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama. He continued that, although the former president has not visited any SHS and has also not given any indication that he will visit any SHS during his tour in Ashanti Region, Wuntumi can never stop him if the former president will want to.
He said, the threats by Chairman Wontumi undermines freedom of movement and it is, therefore, an attack on our democracy and must be condemned by all.
“Wontumi is warned”. He stated in a statement issued this afternoon.
Hon. Mathew Kojo Njourkone further noted that Wontumi’s disgusting vile threats over the years will no longer be tolerated this time.
He said it is about time we unify in our resolve, as peace-loving Ghanaians to send one clear and strong message to Wontumi that, his threats have reached intolerable limits and can no more be accepted.
Such threats have no place in our democratic dispensation. He added.
He continued that, the NDC as a party will never be intimidated by the threats of Wontumi. “Let every Ghanaian know that, much as we respect the capability of the state security to contain him if there is any failure to prevent him from doing anything untoward by the relevant state institutions, we will meet him with equal measure” .
In fact, we are ready for him, he concluded.
“I Want wontumi to know that this time around if he sings peace, we will drum peace. He fumed.
He continued that, the welfare of our SHS students are the concerns of all and no one can prevent anybody from visiting them.
He concluded that no one can keep some of our SHS students in horrendous conditions and prevent major stakeholders from visiting them.
