FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
GHANA’S ELECTORAL COMMISION HAS BEATEN A WAR DRUM AND MUST BE READY FOR THE CONSEQUENCES
It is very disheartening to see Ghana’s democracy being toiled with by Mrs. Jean Mensah and her team of evil plunderers at the Electoral Commission. A democracy that our forefathers fought for with their blood.
It is very sad to see what seemed like the Electoral Commission using this very important just ended exercise (referendum) to experiment the rigging strength of the governing New Patriotic Party for 2020 general elections.
The Youth For Accountable Governance (YOFAG) which is an agalmation of youth from all political divides, neutrals and above all citizens, is very worried about the posture of the Electoral Commission boss who is a known card bearing member of the NPP and her Deputies who are well known NPP activists and spokespersons too.
The opposition parties never boycotted the referendum, they supported it and some big names like Kofi Adams, Dr. Obed Asamoah and some Regional and constituency executives in the affected areas were directed to fully support the referendum because the NDC and other parties acknowledge the importance and equally have it in their manifestos. The former President John Dramani Mahama even made the largest donations (of Gh ¢50,000.00) to his region which showed the commitment of the NDC party to the creation of the regions. Other parties also supported the creation of the new regions as proposed by the people in all the affected areas.
Aside all these commitments, the leadership of the Youth For Accountable Governance is shocked at the posture of the security and the Electoral Commission with execution of their deliberate plans to rig the referendum.
The Volta Regional Police Commander, DSP Doku and the Electoral Commissioner, Madam Jean Mensah are threats to our National Security as well as the Peace and stability we are enjoying as a country.
They have just beaten a war drum and their actions will lead this country into total darkness if they remain in office to oversee the 2020 election.
The Volta Regional Police Commander who is a card bearing member of the NPP was bold to face the camera that journalist will be lynched if they dare go to the polling stations and he won’t be in the position to provide security for them.
For the first time under the most partisan and super incompetent Electoral Commission we saw on video EC officials recruited by Madam Jean Mensa to thumb print loads of ballot papers.
All these have shown that our democracy is under threat and the people of Ghana should expect full darkness under this government if their plan is to rig the 2020 General elections.
We wish to state that we were as well shocked at the President congratulating Mrs Jean Mensah and her partisan Electoral commission for the shoddy job they did. This confirmed the marriage between the NPP and the Refrendum. This as well confirms the partisan posture of the entire commission as a tool of the NPP to rigging the 2020 elections.
We also call for an independent body to investigate the fraud cases in the referendum because we don’t believe and support the Electoral Commission’s position of committing a fraud and investigating itself.
Youths For Accountable Governance won’t sit for some few people to decide for we the Youth of this country. We are just sending them a signal that we are preparing for them in 2020 and if they dare repeat this shameful act of rigging they will be the first to pay the ultimate price for their selfishness.
We hereby call on the Youth of our dear nation to come together to resist the Oppressors Rule as stated in our National Anthem as patriotic citizens of the Republic.
Let caution as well be thrown to every single security officer in uniform that any attempt to develop any form of Stockholm syndrome with this government and to compromise our constitution will be fiercely resisted with the full force of the masses, one expects that they protect the constitution which guarantees peace, security and development.
