In a surprise move, former Education Minister Yaw Osei Adutwum has thrown his hat into the ring, signaling his intention to become the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer.
In a cryptic Facebook post on Thursday night, Adutwum shared an artistic representation hinting at his ambition to lead the party.
“In the silence of the noise, one man’s record speaks louder than mere campaign chants. One man’s impact echoes across every region. One man’s vision is what Ghana needs for a total Ghanaian transformation. #TheAdutwumFactor,” he wrote.
This development comes against the backdrop of internal party strife, including the abrupt withdrawal of Kennedy Agyapong from the party’s nationwide ‘Thank You Tour’ and the party chairman’s decision to take a step back from the exercise.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports suggest a potential rift between Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia, with the latter possibly launching his flagbearership bid without the Nana Addo’s endorsement. Sources claim that Akufo-Addo might be backing former Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong to lead the party in the 2028 elections, further fueling speculation about a possible fallout between the two high-ranking officials.
