The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Bernard Antwi-Bosiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has slammed outgoing Minister of Children and Gender Affairs, Otiko Afisa Djaba for rejecting her new appointment.
Afisa Djaba rejected her appointment to be the Ghanaian Ambassador to Italy after being ousted as a Minister.
Chairman Wontumi thinks the gesture by Otiko is disrespectful to the President.
However, Mr. Wontumi is disappointed that she rejected the position after she was chosen out of many who were equally qualified and worked hard for the party to come to power.
“Otiko needs to apologize to the President and Ghanaians because she has disrespected him. People like us have been loyal to the President but we don’t fight for positions and you have gotten an ambassadorial position and all you can do is to reject it and claim your husband is sick. She should give us a break,” he said.
Madam Otiko Djaba, after raising issues with her sack from government, resigned from politics, citing her stroke-ridden ex-husband as one of the reasons for not accepting the position.
