Woman assaulted and paraded in Nzema market over alleged fake GHC200 note

A middle-aged woman was assaulted and publicly humiliated in a market in Nzema after being accused of using a counterfeit GHC200 note to purchase goods.

Eyewitnesses reported that traders and onlookers, including children, surrounded the woman, chanting “fraudster” and pushing her around as she was paraded through the market.

The incident, which took place on March 2, 2025, was captured on video and shared on social media by Edhub, sparking widespread debate.
