Speaking to the media at a press soiree held at the media centre of the Accra Sports Stadium, President of WISA, Rosemary Gaisie, said one of the ways to empower women in Sports in this country is to celebrate them through the Women Achievers Award.

“We are not here to compete with other institutions that honour our sports men and women, but we want to be bias towards all women engaged in anything to do with sports, through our widow’s mite.

“We will not stop only at awards, but where possible, make suggestions to inform policies to enhance female sporting activities.

“Let’s all help to promote women in all sporting disciplines so that through hard work they will break the ceiling to reach greater heights on the world stage”, she added.

Director General for the National Sports Authority (NSA), Robert Sarfo Mensah pledge his support to the group. He said, “the NSA is going to partner this initiative which will go a long way to encourage more women in sports”.

WISA is pleading with Corporate Ghana, and members of the general public who acknowledge the role of women in national development to support the programme.
