Controversial New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, has publicly issued an unqualified apology, seeking forgiveness from anyone who might have felt disrespected or offended by his actions.
The outspoken politician, known for his fiery statements and combative approach, extended the olive branch during a key address at the TESCON-KNUST General meeting.
He explained that he is taking this action because he believes that reconciliation is important. He added that the NPP would find it challenging to unseat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) without unity.
In his remarks, Ken Agyapong acknowledged the divisive nature of political discourse and expressed regret over any past actions or comments that may have hurt others.
“Anybody who feels I have offended them, I apologize. Anyone who feels they have offended me, I forgive them,” he said, as he called for healing within the NPP.
This gesture comes at a time when tensions are high within the party, with internal rifts threatening to undermine its unity ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Kennedy Agyapong, who previously represented the Assin Central constituency in Parliament, is one of the frontrunners in the NPP’s presidential race.
His bold stance and sometimes controversial outbursts have made him a polarizing figure in Ghanaian politics.
Kennedy urged all members of the NPP to put aside their differences for the greater good of the party.
“In politics, we offend each other. Let us put it behind us,” he said.
He underscored that unity is critical for the party’s success, stressing that even with the most capable leadership, internal divisions could lead to failure.
“Without unity, even if you bring Jesus Christ to lead the NPP, we’ll still lose,” Agyapong remarked, drawing on his trademark boldness to make the point that party cohesion is key to victory.
He appears to be positioning himself as a unifier within the party, ready to bridge divides for the sake of electoral success.
