Press Statement:
I write to render an apology to the public and the people of Weta Traditional Area for double publication carried on our network using two different pictures purporting to be the same person, Torgbuiga Akpo Ashiakpor VI.
The two stories were concurrently published yesterday with the headlines (1.) “V/R: Weta Traditional Council sets up Covid-19 fund” and (2). “Weta Traditional Council launches Community Covid-19 Fund”.
The (1) was story carried from a purported radio interview by our Volta Regional Editor, the (2) story was carried from a press statement issued on Weta Traditional Council letterhead and signed by Torgbui Esru from the Traditional as Chairman of the 39 member Covid-19 Repose Committee and launching of the Covid19 Community Fund by the Council. The second story was done by Awake News’ Editor in Chief.
The second (2) was part and follow up story from an earlier story ” Volta Chief inaugurates 39 member Covid-19 Committee”
We therefore wish to correctly the confusion created by those (1) and (2) with the use of two different pictures purporting to be the same Torgbuiga Akpo Ashiakpor VI.
We, therefore, have resolved to pull down the (1) and maintain story (2) as portions of the (2) was down three days earlier without any reservations and or rejoinder.
