DISCLAIMER: VIDEO AND PICTURES OF ALLEGED MILITARY TRAINING OF WESTERN TOGOLAND
The attention of the office of the Public Relation of HSGF has been drawn on some videos and pictures circulating on social media purporting to be a military training camp for Western Togoland.
The foundation just like other people also wake up to see the images of AKPOYAWO on social media and have also heard news items on various networks.
We want to state emphatically in this joint press statement that, the Western Togoland Focal Group, Western Togoland Liberation Movement, Concern Citizens Western Togoland, The Homeland Study Group Foundation and others dissociate ourselves from those circulations because we know nothing about it.
The foundation is raising no army and did not have any such intention at time of our struggle.
We, therefore, wish to task the security services to investigate the sources of those circulating the videos and images.
It is also of our suspicion that some intruders are behind this trying to create disaffection for our groups.
The leadership wish to quickly draw the attention of Ghana to put a stop to the needless arrests going on so that the situation will not escalate.
As such the leadership of Ghana must understand that if care is not taken and their action is seen by the citizens of Western Togoland as repetitions of events of 1956 more wounds will be opened because children of the victims of 1956 atrocities are now aware of what happened to their parents.
Our case is a straightforward one. Ghana knows quite well that she had never had a colony. We, being an adjacent country to her are a Trusteeship Territories to the British which she failed to nurtured to Nationhood.
Ghana should not worry itself, therefore, to get up in arms against us. Ghana being a neat and respected nation on the globe as generally perceived should not stain herself further with human blood by persistently chasing after us Western Togoland men and women as was done to our Fathers of yesterday during the independence or plebiscite war of 1956.
The lining up of 20 heavily pregnant women and blowing their stomachs and also the hitting of heads of little boys against trees in the townships of Kpando, Alavanyo, Fodome, Hodzo to mention a few and hiding these from historical records are still fresh in the minds of eyes witnesses who for fear of saving their lives only mention them to their children behind closed doors.
It is only for fear of God and Excellency for humanities that we managed to contain this from 1956 to date.
In addition to grabbing of our land, our reaches down the earth and denial of us the national cake and open disregards to us besides open insults and several that we have got fed up and have decided to exhibit to the world, Britain and the United Nations that we can managed ourselves well if not better with the appeal to Ghana and the international world that PEACE is what we hold in our hands and not weapons.
We keep stressing this every moment and to the hearing of every ear.
The security agents of Ghana should learn better to the benefit of all of us rather than running after men and women in our market square, farm roads, and funerals arresting and locking them up for days and taking them to court with charges of Treason only to throw fear into their hearts.
We call for permanent ice-cold peace in our land. And that Ghana’s behaviour through her soldiers, the police and others to give us the belief that Britain her colonial master has sold us and our land to Ghana. “To suspect is no crime,” anyway.
We are for Peace.
Thank you all.
