Traders in the Kumasi central market have revealed that their palms were greased with GHC100 to support Vice President Dr. Bawumia, who wishes to lead the NPP as presidential candidate in the 2024 elections.

In an engagement with the media, the various groups at the central market expressed their unwavering support for the Vice President as the potential presidential candidate to lead the NPP to break the 8-year jinx in the 2024 election.

They indicated that there’s a conviction that in the critical stage of the NPP, Dr. Bawumia is the only established candidate who can secure a smooth victory and achieve the “Break the 8” agenda, which will make it possible for the party to go for a third consecutive term.

“Because we are also NPP supporters and we all want to break the 8, we, the Identified Group at the Central Market, say that if the Vice President is not elected as the flagbearer, we are not going to vote,” they added.

But in an interview with Ambassador TV in a viral video, one of the traders revealed that they were lured to a tune of GHc100 each to endorse Dr. Bawumia.

“In fact, the way they organized the press conference was not the initial plan. They came to us to write our names for GH¢100 each. Today, the market is not booming, so when they told us that, we rushed to write our names. We did not know they were doing that to tell Ghanaians that all the traders here have endorsed the Vice President. Because when you convince me to vote for someone, I will not accept GHc 100. If they had informed us of their plan, I would have paid more than 100 cedis.”

“During the superdelegates conference, some were giving cars. So why should I accept GHC100 to endorse or vote for Bawumia?” she lamented.
