A member of the National Communication Team of the opposition NDC, Gabrialla Tetteh has taken to his Facebook page to school the ruling NPP over their failed attempt to equalize what she described as “gargantuan family and friends government they [Akufo-Addo led NPP government] have self-inflicted on themselves”.
“The NPP government has today been busily sharing a flyer about family and friends in the John Mahama Administration. The aim of the social media onslaught is to equalize on the gargantuan family and friends government they have self-inflicted on themselves.” – she writes
Gabriella Tetteh who is the sister of the former Trade Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister (Hannah Tetteh) under the late President Mills and former President Mahama’s administrations respectively said though the three of them (Hannah, Gizella and herself) served in John Mahama’s administration, it was never on the basis of their personal relationship with John Mahama who was the president at the time as in the case of President Akufo-Addo who appointed many of his family and friends into his government on the basis of his personal relationship with those appointees.
According to Gabriella, her family has a deep-rooted contribution to the cause of the NDC since it’s inception just like many other hardworking NDC members.
“We have as a family all demonstrated our enthusiasm and commitment to the National Democratic Congress and have just followed in the footsteps of our father who during the PNDC era was a member of the regional consultative council, who upon the start of the District Assemblies was one of the first government appointees on the Cape Coast Municipal Assembly, and who was also elected to represent the Central Region on the National Development Planning Commission in 1993 and in 1997. As a family, we have a proud tradition of working in support of the National Democratic Congress and are proud to have contributed our efforts to building this country.”

The NPP government has today been busily sharing a flyer about family and friends in the John Mahama Administration. The aim of the social media onslaught is to equalize on the gargantuan family and friends government they have self-inflicted on themselves. I wish to state categorically that my family are not armchair politicians who are called to enjoy the fruits of others hard-earned labour of bringing a government to power.
To begin with, my elder sister was elected in her own right as a member of parliament in the year 2000. She was selected by the party as the parliamentary candidate. she had the best results for the Central Region in that year, and the constituency consciously voted skirt and blouse in her favour. The records will show that without a doubt.
Secondly, she was elected by the party as a National Executive Committee member in the year 2005 at the party’s elections to choose national executives. Nobody “appointed” her to that post.
Additionally, when then VP Candidate was selected to be the running mate to Professor Mills the National Executive Committee of the NDC selected her to be the Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress..
All 3 of us have worked in National Democratic Congress campaigns in our Constituency Awutu Senya since 2008, I Gaby even did two adverts in the 2008 campaign in addition to volunteering on the 2009 Transition Team.
Hanna was nominated by the Late President Mills as a Minister of Trade and was vetted and approved by Parliament.
Gizella was appointed to the Board of the Civil Aviation Authority but not by Hanna nor then Veep Mahama. I did not serve in President Mills government or on any board. My job at STC was one I applied for and like everyone else who did take through an interview process. I always reference that those who doubt can go to STC and ask Nana Akomea. Cos the same HR is there.
Hanna was elected (not appointed) as MP in 2012. Thereafter was nominated and subsequently vetted and approved Parliament as Foreign Minister.
Gizi was appointed to the Board of Ghana Airports having regard to her previous appointment and commitment to excellence on the Civil Aviation Board.
The late VP recruited me to work in his office without reference to my sister or President Mahama.
We have as a family all demonstrated our enthusiasm and commitment to the National Democratic Congress and have just followed in the footsteps of our father who during the PNDC era was a member of the regional consultative council, who upon the start of the District Assemblies was one of the first government appointees on the Cape Coast Municipal Assembly, and who was also elected to represent the Central Region on the National Development Planning Commission in 1993 and in 1997. As a family we have a proud tradition of working in support of the National Democratic Congress and are proud to have contributed our efforts to building this country.
We are not NDC because of President Mahama who we consider to be our Senior Comrade. We are NDC because we choose to be and we have spent a considerable number of years together with other comrades to also contribute to building the party.
In conclusion, pls don’t confuse myself or my sisters with people who have been appointed on the basis of their relationships and not their efforts. That is not us. Keep bleeding.
We remain in service to God, Country and Party.
Thanks for your attention.
