An aspiring executive of the National Democratic Congress in the Oti Region says calls by the Concerned Volta NDC Grassroot for the transfer of the current Volta Regional Chairman of the party to the newly created region is needless.

Tension is brewing among the Volta Regional NDC as the Concerned Volta NDC Grassroot wants  Gyapong Kudwo to cease being their Chairman with explanations that he belongs to the Oti Region.

The Group in a petition to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NDC demand that Mr. Kudwo be reassigned to the Oti Region where he comes from to help build a strong party there with his experience.

“We wish to state, for the record, that Hon.Kwadwo Gyapong, aside from being a son of the land (Oti) has vast and rich experience worth utilising in the reorganization drive of the party in the newly created region ahead of next year’s general elections . Besides, Volta is blessed with very experienced and resourceful members who can easily lead the NDC even in the absence of chairman Kudjo. Sadly though, same cannot be said of Oti, and many will agree that consolidating the party structures and activities in a new region as Oti requires no mean experience,” the group stated in the petition.

But reacting to the petition, an aspiring Oti Regional Deputy Communications Officer of the NDC, Abraham Boafo, disagreed with the call for the Volta Chairman to be reassign to the region with the excuse that his services would be of great benefit to the party.

According to Abraham Boafo, the Oti Region NDC does not need new assets as there are “more experience hands that can match the NPP” who were trained by the late former National Chairman Dr. Kwabena Adjei.

Dr. Obed Asamoah, Kofi Adams, Kwesi Aboagye, Fred Agbenyo, Mr. Fato, among others are some of the highly trained and experience politicians the party can boast of in the Oti Region.

“The impression created by some individuals that Oti has not got the men or the requisite human resource to man the region is misplaced. NEC has given regional executives choice to either move to the newly created regions or remain. Hon. Gyapong Kudwo has exercise his right to stay and this should sink well with the supporters of Hon. Dzifa Attivor who thinks she should be the Chairman at all cost,” Mr. Boafo stated.

PRESS RELEASE

RE- VOLTA REGIONAL CHAIRMAN MUST GO.

GYAPONG KUDWO WILL STAY IN VOLTA

We are surprised by the call by some individuals holding the view Hon. Gyapong Kwadwo must move to the newly created Oti region for reasons that there are no experience hands in Oti hence he will better serve the people of Oti better with his vast experience.

We the members of the party from the Oti enclave disagree with the view that Hon. Gyapong Kwadzo is the only experience hand in the Oti enclave.

The newly created Oti region has more experience hands that can much the NPP.

Mention can be made of Hon. Dr. Obed Asamoah, who served as an executive for other political parties before assuming the position of the NDC national chair.

The region can also proudly mention Mr. Kofi Adams, who served the NDC from TEIN level, constituency, regional and became the national organizer of the party. This is no mean asset for the newly created Oti region.

Mention can be made of Hon. Kwesi Aboagye, a former deputy Volta regional minister and a former regional chairman of the party.

The newly created region can also boast of Mr. Fred Agbenyo the former national deputy communication officer, Mr. Fato former regional propaganda secretary of the party.

The former national chairman Dr. Kwabena Adjei who also hails from Oti, have trained lots of people from the Oti region who are capable to the task ahead. (may his soul rest in peace).

The region also have the former regional minister Hon. Halen Ntoso, the former national security coordinator Yaw Donkor etc all coming from the Oti region.

Mustapha Gbande, Joyce Osei former deputy regional secretary and former deputy women organizer all hail from the Oti region.

The names mentioned above shows that Hon. Gyapong Kwadwo is not the only experience hand in Oti and without him nothing can be done is fundamentally flawed.

The impression created by some individuals that Oti has not got the men or the requisite human resource to man the region is misplaced.

NEC has given regional executives choice to either move to the newly created regions or remain. Hon. Gyapong Kudwo has exercise his right to stay and this should sink well with the supporters of Hon. Dzifa Attivor who thinks she should be the Chairman at all cost.

NEC which is the highest decision making body of the party have given guidelines for the conduct of elections in areas affected by the newly created region, any true party person will not derail the effort of the party for their personal interest.

We want to ask Egypt Kudoto, the aid to Hon. Dzifa Attivor, Tetteh Joshua Edem etal who wants Chairman Gyapong Kudwo to leave Volta region the following questions.

1. There are MPs in Oti who are from Volta region, should they be sacked or they should remain?

2. There are constituency executives who are from Volta region and in Oti, should they be removed?

3. Did the NDC said in their manifesto they will create a new region?
If the answer is yes, then so long as we cannot blame former president John Mahama for supporting the creation of a region in his area so one can also not blame chairman Gyapong Kudwo for supporting the creation of a region.

We are well informed the supporters of Hon. Dzifa Attivor are planning a demonstration for the removal of Chairman Gyapong Kudwo to enable madam Dzifa Attivor assumes the position of the Volta regional chairman which is supported by her good self.

We humbly use this medium to inform Hon. Dzifa Attivor and his supporters to be well informed that the turbulence they intend unleashing on the region will not sustain the peace and unity the party is currently enjoying leading to the 2020 elections.

GYAPONG KUDWO WILL STAY IN VOLTA

Long Live Volta and Oti

Long Live NDC

Thank you

Signed:

Abraham Boafo

Oti deputy regional communication aspirant NDC.
