According to the association, they watched the collation and transmission of largely peaceful results generated and declared at the polling stations by Electoral Officers in the 2020 presidential elections at the regional level with great surprise and apprehension.

In the same vein, “It is our expectation that the court process will be conducted fairly to improve on the confidence in the judicial system”, the statement said.

The group also urged the NDC parliamentary candidates and members of parliament elect who have difficulty with the declarations to file for any of the relevant prerogative writs such as quashing orders and mandamus where necessary.

They, “We further advise those who will be commenting on the petition to avoid prejudicial comments that seek to decide the direction of the verdict.

“Ghanaians especially NDC members should avoid attacking the persons of the judges to avoid contempt charges, the Association of Democratic Tertiary Students of Ghana and Beyond cautioned.

Re-Filing of a presidential petition by John Dramani Mahama

We have watched the collation and transmission of large, peaceful results generated and declared at the polling stations by Electoral Officers in the 2020 presidential elections at the regional level with great surprise and apprehension. This is because the actions by the EC largely collaborated by the NPP May destroy this country.

We are, therefore, happy and congratulate the petitioner, John Dramani Mahama for finally filling the petition to the Supreme Court. We conclude that the petitioner and the NDC party believe in the values of democracy and the role of the courts to bring about justice to solidify peace.

It is our expectation that the court process will be conducted fairly to improve confidence in the judicial system.
We also, advise that the NDC parliamentary candidates and members of parliament elect who have difficulty with the declarations should file for any of the relevant prerogative writs such as quashing orders and mandamus where necessary.
We further advise those who will be commenting on the petition to avoid prejudicial comments that seek to decide the direction of the verdict. Ghanaians especially NDC members should avoid attacking the persons of the judges to avoid contempt charges.
We once again congratulate Mr John Dramani Mahama and the NDC for the trust in the Judiciary by filing.
