The Member of Parliament for the Agortime-Ziope Constituency, Hon. Charles Agbeve has said that, the decision to endorse and vote for former President, John Dramani Mahama is a decision that he and delegates in the Agortime-Ziope Constituency took on behalf of the masses.
According to the lawmaker, there has been a tumultuous call for the come back of the former President, to lead the NDC into the 2020 general elections.
He noted that this frantic call is not only coming from the members of the NDC, but also from the larger populace who feel disappointed in the Nana Addo led administration.
“In my constituency, for instance, my people want John Mahama. The people in the various communities told the delegates not to return home if they don’t elect John Mahama to lead the NDC,” he said
“It’s not John Mahama who wants to come back, but it’s a call from the grassroots and that was evident in the reception he received from the people when he visited the region two weeks ago”.
He added further that, the call to bring John Mahama is necessitated by the neglect and abandonment of development projects initiated by he (John Mahama).
“I’m comfortable to say that, the general public in Agortime-Ziope wants John Mahama back to come and continue with his good works. The delegates here have come to express the will of the people”.
“There was a promise to get the people of Agortime-Ziope water -one of the biggest problem of the district, the E-block started at Ziope has come to a standstill, the road from Be to Afegame has been brought to a halt. These are the reasons why the people are calling for the comback of the former President”.
The MP, one of the 94 parliamentarians, who openly declared his support for the candidature of the former President, indicated prior to the closure of polls that his constituency would be giving the former President, a 100 per cent endorsement.
After closure of polls, out of 581 registered voters, 580 cast their ballots and gave the former President, 577 votes representing 99.5 per cent endorsement from the Agortime-Ziope Constituency.
