Mr. Iddrisu Alhassan, the chief of herdsmen (Fulani) in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District has said that they are ever ready to pay their quota towards the development of the District.
Speaking at a Town Hall Meeting organised by the District Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Kena at Donkorkrom on Wednesday September 12th to present to the community projects the NPP Government has undertaken so far in the district, Mr. Iddrisu said that they will be glad to pay taxes they have been paying to other districts to the Afram Plains North District.
“We carry our cattle to other districts for sale and we wish we sell them here so that the district can also gain from the taxes we will pay. All we need is for the DCE and the chiefs of the land to build for us a cattle market so that we can sell our animals here”, he said.
On the issue of arm robbery, he said that they are ever ready to report to authorities all herdsmen involve in the act.
“If you ask me about the increase in robbery cases, I will tell you that there are bad nuts everywhere. However, we as leaders of the herdsmen have and are ever ready to report to the necessary authorities individuals among us who we believe are into arm robbery so that they can be apprehended and dealt with”, he added.
The DCE, Hon. Kena Samuel promised to consult the necessary offices and individuals to get a land and situate the market for the herdsmen.
