The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said they are not bothered by the decision of former President John Mahama to contest for NDC’s flagbearer again.
The party said the decision of Mahama is rather in the best interest of [ads1]the NPP as it will make 2020 easier for them.
Speaking to Accra based Citi FM, the acting Director of Communications for the NPP, Yaw Adomako Barfi said Mahama will be a lightweight for Nana Akufo-Addo.
“We are not bothered at all. We are on sound footing and we are doing the right things. Ghanaians are the best judges so we are not worried. After all, they have a lot of arsenal on them, Alban Bagbin has said Mahama’s coming is a bomb, looking at what Goosie Tanoh has said, looking at what Ken Dzirasah has said,” he said.
“I’m assuring Ghanaians that we are not disturbed at all and we are not even going to be disturbed because we have the mandate, and we need to deliver on the promises.”
John Mahama last Thursday officially declared his intention to contest in the party’s presidential primaries.
Ninety-four NDC MPs out of the Minority Caucus of 106 also endorsed Mr. Mahama as the flagbearer for the 2020 polls prior to his announcement.
The list of the MPs backing him was made public after he made his intention to contest public.
