Hon. Peter Toobu Lanchene, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa West, has introduced a new initiative aimed at addressing youth unemployment in his constituency. The program, called The Future Today – MP-Led Youth Entrepreneurship Fund (MLYEF), was launched on Saturday, April 5, and seeks to empower young people with innovative business ideas.

The fund provides interest-free loans, training, and mentorship to selected youth. Out of over 200 proposals submitted, 40 young individuals were chosen to benefit from the GHS 200,000 seed fund earmarked for the initiative.

During the launch, Hon. Toobu emphasized the importance of hard work and accountability, saying, “I have brought seeds to the youth of Wa West, and I expect you to turn them into plantations through hard work, honesty, and accountability.”

To ensure the program’s success, a motorbike was donated to the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Officer to help oversee the initiative across the constituency.

The MP and former senior police officer further expressed his belief in the potential of Wa West’s youth, stating that with the right support and guidance, they can build businesses that uplift families and communities.
