The parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress for Tema Central has attributed the recent loss of lives at the Tema General Hospital to the “insensitive and visionless governance.”
Ebi Bright issued a statement reacting to the recent power outages at Tema General Hospital that left many lives at stake. The Tema Central NDC PC said, “…the recent power outages have revealed significant shortcomings in our health infrastructure and management.” According to Ebi Bright, “if decisive action is not taken promptly, our collective well-being may continue to be compromised.”
She said, “Families have tragically lost loved ones (babies in this situation), due in large part to the inadequate and evasive response from the country’s leadership in addressing this particular life-threatening situation, as only one variable in a larger equation of insensitive and visionless governance.”
The NDC PC urged people to throw away political lenses in matters such as the one at Tema General Hospital, where lives are affected. According to her, “it is crucial to recognize that, above all, we are Ghanaians before we are affiliated with any particular political party. Therefore, I speak not only as a politician, but also as a concerned Ghanaian and resident of Tema Central.”
She expressed worry about those who rely on the hospital for healthcare due to the “inadequacies.”
“I also am anxious of the potential risks and costs if I and/or any person is dependent on these facilities in the near future”, she said.

Tema General Hospital – What Matters?
I have been away from my Constituency in recent days on a party retreat, but I remain vigilant and attentive to happenings on the ground, and have deployed resources and strategies to sieve through conflicting reports, to distill the facts and make informed assessments of situations.
I am profoundly saddened by the recent reported unfortunate events at the Tema General Hospital, which not only serves my beloved Constituency, but also stands as a major referral and trauma point for numerous hospitals spanning from Sakumono to Prampram and beyond.
The recent power outages have revealed significant shortcomings in our health infrastructure and management of same, and if decisive action is not taken promptly, our collective well-being may continue to be compromised, our deserved standard of healthcare as befits the current designation of our city and its facilities, a continued source of costly disillusionment.
Families have tragically lost loved ones (babies in this situation), due in large part to the inadequate and evasive response from the country’s leadership in addressing this particular life-threatening situation, as only one variable in a larger equation of insensitive and visionless governance.
It is crucial to recognize that, above all, we are Ghanaians before we are affiliated with any particular political party. Therefore, I speak not only as a politician, but also as a concerned Ghanaian and resident of Tema Central, who has not only felt the pain of loss due to the inadequacies of this facility, but also personally felt the impact of the recent nonchalance towards issues of such grave concern. I also am anxious of the potential risks and costs if I and/or any person is dependent on these facilities in the near future.
I call upon the government, the Tema Municipal Assembly, and compassionate individuals to join me urgently intervene and address the challenges facing the Tema General Hospital, whilst we await the true representation of a befitting facility on its premises.
Elections, new and renewed policies, and the honest will to deliver, are still several months away from us. It is heartbreaking to know that innocent lives, including infants, are being lost due to the incompetence of some, and the complicity of the silence of others which denies us all the requisite benefits of our citizenship, while we wait to make better decisions at the upcoming Dec. 7 polls.
To the bereaved families, I express my deepest condolences. I want to reassure you of my unwavering commitment to advocate for the necessary resources and facilities to meet our daily needs. In due course, I will personally reach out to you to offer my support and assistance, however little.
May God bless our homeland Ghana…
