A development NGO, Organization for Strategic Development in Africa – OSDA has observed the 2018 Good Deeds Day with a massive a clean-up exercise at the Have Clinic in the Volta Region of Ghana.

The project brought together Junior High Student, teachers and their circuit supervisor as well as the members of OSDA family.

Speaking to Awake News, Mr. Manfred Tawiah, the President of OSDA said, the project is part of OSDA’s mission to support the health sector in the rural area through volunteerism.

According to him, an event of this nature is needed to help engender the spirit of volunteerism and community service among the youth.

“It was great to see youngsters and their mentor from Have Junior High School wholeheartedly volunteering their time to keep their clinic clean” – Mr. Tawiah said

Mr. Tawiah noted that the project supported by the Good Deeds Day partner organization in the USA. He explained that the Good Deeds Day “was initiated in 2007 by businesswoman and philanthropist, Shari Arison, and launched and organized by Ruach Tova (NGO), a part of The Ted Arison Family Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Arison Group”

Explaining the work of OSDA to Awake News, Mr. Tawia said:

“The Organization for Strategic Development in Africa (OSDA) is essentially a home-grown organization focused on harnessing youthful energies into productive ventures in communities at risk in Ghana. OSDA does this by seeking collaborations between local and international organizations who share in the same philosophies through the vehicle of Public Private Partnership concept of development.

We are able to achieve the above vision through the organization of activities such as voluntary work camps, teaching internship placement, cultural exchange programmes such drumming and dancing as well rural community development.

OSDA is partners with both local and international development partners including District Assemblies which are the major vehicles of rural development in Ghana, Ghana Education Service, the Ministry of Agriculture and AFCOPB, a local not-for-profit organization as well as other potential partners as SNV and the National Investment Bank.

We also have partnership agreements with V & B in Germany, World Servants and the UT Delft University of Technology both in the Nether lands. OSDA has a staff strength of 50 young people including volunteers across Ghana, the Netherlands and Spain”
