A non-governmental organisation, the Saints located in the Ho West District of the Volta region has held a two-day outreach programme for students in some Junior High Schools in the district.
The outreach programme was centered on career guidance and counseling, role modeling, adolescent and reproductive health.
The team led by its President, Justice Kofi Avedzi visited about ten (10) schools which include Abutia Tegbleve, Abutia Gbetekpo, Abutia Togbave, Dededo and Bethel Cambridge Junior High Schools on the first day.
The group on the second day also visited the Anfoeta Gborgame, Akome Agate, Akome Gborta, Luvudo and Kpoeta Achem Junior High Schools.
As part of the engagements aimed at enhancing the interest of students towards academic excellence, the NGO also donated mathematical sets to all final year students in the various schools in support of their preparations towards the impending Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The Saints is an exclusively men organization, started as a group of friends who met periodically to socialize and share ideas and opportunities, was converted into an NGO in the year 2020 aimed at giving back to their communities.
The NGO is mainly involved in community service in the area of education, health and agriculture. The Saints have lined up other activities in the coming months. These activities will see the group educating farmers on best and modern farming practices.
Health screening for prevalent ailments such as hepatitis B, cervical cancer, typhoid, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, hypertension and a host of others.
