Voting began this morning throughout the various polling stations across the Volta region, for the election of Assembly and Unit Committee members with a generally lack of citizens enthusiasm in the exercise.

Though the exercise has been fairly peaceful throughout the centers, our checks from some polling stations in the Ho Municipality, Agotime-Ziope and Akatsi North Districts reveal that voter turnout has been significantly low.

Some aspirants attribute the low turn out to the fact that today’s exercise is happening on a working day, a situation that prevents voters outside and even within the districts from taking part in the exercise.

The aspirants are neither hopeful of any massive turn out at the later end of the polls which is expected to close at 5pm.
