The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress Mr. Asiedu Nketia has called for the prosecution of the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and MP for Tema West for engaging in what he calls an act of endangering lives of Ghanaians.
General Mosquito’s comments follows the Tema West MP’s admission that he visited some registration centers even when he knew he tested positive for the deadly novel coronavirus.
Though Mr. Ahenkroa has since resigned from his portfolio as a Deputy Minister, the NDC General Secretary says his resignation is not enough since his actions have a high tendency of infecting many more Ghanaians.
He said, “…we are calling for the prosecution of Carlos Ahenkroa because resignation is not part of our laws; the Covid-19 protocols, resignation is not part so we are waiting to see that he is prosecuted like the ordinary man on the street -they must prosecute Carlos.”
General Mosquito, as he is affectionately called, is on a tour of registration centers across the region and made the call when he visited some three men who were allegedly assaulted yesterday by a police officer at a registration center in the Akatsi North Constituency of the Volta region.
The three assaulted victims are currently receiving medical treatment at the Ave Dakpa Clinic.
