The Akatsi North Constituency of the National Democratic Congress in the Volta region has began a series of activities to intensify the campaign against the Covid-19 pandemic as the country’s case count continue to increase.
On Saturday, June 20, 2020 a team of constituency executives led by the Chairman, Mr. Richard Awudza donated over 1000 nose masks to individuals at the district capital of Ave Dakpa, while over hundred stores were presented with a bottle each of hand sanitizers.
The team also engaged various groups in discussions, while urging them to continue to adhere to the Covid-19 protocols.
According to the Chairman, the initiative is the party’s own support towards the fight against the deadly novel coronavirus.
He said, “As a party, we have also decided to support the Covid-19 fight in our own way. The MP has since made a number of donations which include hand sanitizers, face masks, Veronica buckets and other PPE to relevant groups within the Constituency and so, what we are doing is just to continue with our own support.”
Meanwhile, the team on Sunday 21 June, visited the Africanian group at Tornorgbe Korpe where similar exercise was undertaken.
Mr. Awudza took the opportunity to to urge the worshipers to avail themselves for this year’s electoral processes in order to ensure the return of the NDC and Mr. John Dramani Mahama on December 7th.
The team also included the constituency Women Organizer, Miss Lilly Nutakor and Zongo Caucus Coordinator, Alhaji Salihu Iddrisu.
The Akatsi North district is one of the only three districts out of a total 18 that have not recorded any case of the Covid-19 pandemic in the Volta region.
