A member of Parliament for Agotime-Ziope Constituency, Mr. Charles Agbeve has said the best selling Kente fabric comes from his Constituency; Agortime-Kpetoe.

According to him the Agortime people are known for their unique Kente craft that sells across borders.

Speaking to the Awake News’ Faisal Abdul-Iddrisu, at 2018 Agbamevorza launch at Kpetoe on Saturday, the MP said, “Agortime Kente is unique, is beautiful, it is designed and carved out of nature. The youths of Agormeti are very skillful and talented, as such, they are not doing ordinary designs”.

[ads1]”If you want a Kente design that you wouldn’t see on any other person, then come to Agormeti. That’s the uniqueness of our Kente; the Agortime Kente. I always say Agormeti is Kente, and Kente is Agormeti” – He told Awake News

Mr. Agbeve assured the Planning Committee of the festival, that this year’s festival unlike last year’s will come off without any disruption.

“I want to add my voice to that of the Chiefs, the Planning Committee and the youths of Agormeti that this year’s Agbamevorza will come off in peace. The clarion call is we want to celebrate. Whatever it’ll take us, we would do it.” – He said

“Behind the scenes, there have been some negotiations, peace talks, and a lot has gone in. I want to believe we’ve let the past behind.” he added.

Last year, all other events associated with the Agbamevorza went on successfully but the durbar was cancelled at the eleventh hour. The cancellation which was attributed to some chieftaincy issues left many wondering how long it will take the people of Agormeti to stage the festival again.
