The rampaging students have caused destruction to some properties on the school’s premises in protest against the “unfair” dismissal of some lecturers by the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Rev. Prof. Afful-Broni.

The students have damaged the windscreen of a bus belonging to the Students Representative Council, destroyed items at the Junior Common Room as well.

They are calling for the immediate dismissal of Rev. Prof. Afful-Broni while the lecturers who were sacked return to their post.

Chairman of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) Kwamena Duncan said the decision to close down the UEW temporarily is due to the increasing level of insecurity as a result of recent happenings in the school.

According to him, students are to vacate the premises latest by 6:00 pm Thursday.
